"As we read the Bible, we are not only to bring our critical intelligence with us, but also to listen." Marcus J. Borg, 2001

January 24, 2022 — 7-8pm

All are invited and welcome to join us for a study of the Gospel According to Luke starting Monday, January 24, 2022. We’ll be using the Rev. N.T. Wright's "For Everyone" study guide for the gospel. This will be an interactive, accessible study facilitated by Pastor Joel. Meetings will be held from 7-8pm--in-person and online--on the first, second, and fourth Mondays of each month. Click the image to the left to purchase the book from Amazon (using AmazonSmile, of course!).

"[Their] heroism and desperate struggles, [as well as] the terrible oppression that they were under, should be kept green in the memory of this and coming generations." Wm. Still, 1871

March 5, 2022

All are welcome and invited to join us for an engaging, intergenerational study of the Undergound Railroad culminating in a visit to the Underground Railroad Living Museum at the First Congregational Church of Detroit on Saturday, March 5. In preparation for our museum visit, children will be invited to read “I am Harriett Tubman” from Brad Meltzer’s Ordinary People Change the World series. Adults will read excerpts from William Still’s “The Underground Railroad: A Record,” published in 1871. Adults will receive reading material via email, and will meet via Zoom on February 10 and February 24 for discussion. Children are encouraged to read and discuss their book at home. Museum tickets are $12 for children and seniors, and $14 for adults.
