We will be observing Lent with an Ash Wednesday service on February 22 in the Meeting House beginning at 7:30 p.m. Prior to the service we will have our traditional potluck dinner at 6:15pm – a signup sheet is available in Fellowship Hall.

Everyone is invited to join us for a Lenten study “24 Hours That Changed the World,” beginning Tuesday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m.  Reverend Ritter will lead the group that will meet each Tuesday night through the Lenten season.  You are welcome to attend any or all of these sessions. The study is enhanced by a DVD program that visits the sites of Jerusalem where the final events in Jesus’ life took place.  We will reflect on the thoughts and feelings of Jesus and others who played an important role in the Passion story.  Each session will last between 60 and 75 minutes.

The Board of Christian Education is planning on scrapbooking every month. Bring your photos and supplies; we will provide the space as well as beverages and an “order-in” lunch.  The cost is $10.  Sign up today in Fellowship Hall.  Watch the church bulletins and newsletter for the monthly date.

ABNER AWEYO ONYANGO is a young boy from Kenya.  Meadowbrook is sponsoring Abner through Compassion International; we have been asked to keep him in our prayers as well as correspond with him.  If you would like  to learn more about Abner or write him a letter, please see the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall.

The Novi Fire Department’s File of Life program allows a person to communicate with emergency responders even if that person is unresponsive.  The File of Life is a bright red plastic sleeve, roughly the size of a big postcard that affixes to your refrigerator with a magnet.  Inside the sleeve is a form on which people can indicate medical history, prescriptions, allergies and emergency contact information.  This form allows first responders to know what ailments a patient may be suffering from without having to wait for tests. 

This FREE File of Life sleeve can be picked up in Fellowship Hall, or contact Nancy in the church office and she will mail one to your home. 

The emergency information card should be filled out to the best of your ability and placed inside the File of Life pouch.  If you are a Novi resident, please fill out the last portion of the information sheet and send it to the Novi Fire Department (42975 Grand River, Novi MI 48375).  This voluntary follow up form is used by fire department dispatchers to inform first responders that a File of Life is on site.

Target has joined the Meadowbrook Scrip program.  Before your next car trip to everyone’s favorite spot, be sure to pick up Target and gasoline scrip.  You can also pickup some scrip during the week – scrip on hand includes:  Barnes and Noble, Home Depot, iTunes, Kohl’s, Marathon, Panera and Starbucks.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH CHOIR REHEARSALS: Joyful Noise children’s choir, grades K-6, will begin rehearsals at 11:15am on TODAY. The MC4 choir, for singers in grades 7-12, will practice at 11:35am, immediately following Joyful Noise rehearsals.

CHANCEL CHOIR NEWS: Anyone interested in joining the Adult Chancel Choir is always welcome.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:15pm.  Please see any member of the choir or our Director of Music, Jeannette Faber.

When you travel this summer, please remember those less fortunate that you, and pick up the small samples of soap, shampoo and toothbrushes you find in hotels.  An ongoing collection here at Meadowbrook will be given to the Detroit Rescue Mission, Novi Emergency Food Bank, and Northville Civic Concern for those in need. Donations can be left in Fellowship Hall.
